Thank you for your nominations for the National Year of Digital Inclusion Awards. We will be announcing Award winners at a National Year of Digital Inclusion finale event in Geelong on the evening of Thursday 1 December from 5:15-7.15pm. To attend the Awards reception please register here.

The National Year of Digital Inclusion Awards is your opportunity to help us recognise and celebrate their contribution to making the National Year of Digital Inclusion a success.

We want to hear the stories of people and organisations who have championed the improvement of digital skills in the community throughout the National Year of Digital Inclusion, and what they have done to create change.

Perhaps your organisation held a pop up learning event that was a great success in engaging your community.  Or you know an individual who goes above and beyond to volunteer to help others improve their online confidence either in the home, workplace or community organisation.

To help us celebrate this significant contribution of individuals and organisations to building the digital literacy of Australians, we want your nominations for the National Year of Digital Inclusion Awards in the following three categories:

Go Digi Learners Award

Do you know an individual who in 2016 has taken steps to improve their digital skills and online confidence? This could be through engaging in online learning such as the Go Digi platform, or participating in workshops at their local library or neighbourhood house. What have they learnt, and in what ways it having a positive impact on their lives?

Judging Criteria – Go Digi Learner’s Award

The submission will demonstrate:

  • That the nominated person has taken significant steps to improve their digital skills (e.g. attended learning sessions, used online learning resources or has been mentored by somebody).
  • How the nominated person overcame any barriers to learning new digital skills (e.g. lack of confidence)
  • What digital skills the nominated person has learnt (e.g. social media).
  • How the learning these new digital skills has had a positive impact on their quality of life.

Go Digi Mentors Award

Do you know someone who in 2016 has actively supported others in their community in improving their digital skills an online confidence either in a paid or volunteer capacity?

This could be in any number of ways such as providing one-on-one support to someone they know, running workshops, events or regular meet ups or volunteering in a library or neighbourhood house to help with digital literacy programs.

Judging Criteria – Go Digi Mentors Award

The submission will demonstrate:

  • That the mentor has helped someone else to improve their digital skills (e.g. through supporting someone face-to-face, or volunteering in a library or neighbourhood house to help with digital literacy programs).
  • How the mentor helped the mentee overcame any barriers to learning new digital skills (e.g. lack of confidence)
  • The types of digital skills the mentor helped someone else to learn (e.g. social media)
  • How learning these new digital skills have had a positive impact on the quality of life of the individual helped (e.g. “they were able to Skype their family interstate which made them feel more connected”)

Go Digi Network Partner Award

Do you know an organisation that has made a significant contribution to helping their community learn digital skills and build their online confidence during 2016?

Judging Criteria – Go Digi Network Partner

The submission will demonstrate:

  • That the nominated organisation has participated in the National Year of Digital Inclusion (e.g. through holding a pop up learning event)
  • That the nominated organisation has made a significant impact to helping their community to learn digital skills in 2016 (e.g. number of learning sessions held or people supported).
  • That the nominated organisation has shown creative or innovative approaches to reaching individuals or communities most at need. 
  • That the nominated organisation is a registered Go Digi Network Partner

We would also love it if you could email us a photo or even video that helps to demonstrate this individual or organisation in action at [email protected]  

Please note, that we will only use or share this photo on the Awards night or in other communications with your permission.

This is a great opportunity for organisations and individuals to be recognised in the work that they do.

Please note that you are welcome to nominate yourself or an organisation that you work for, but please make this clear in your nomination. Also, if you are nominating someone as a Go Digi Mentor, they do not have to have registered to be a Go Digi Mentor, and this is not one of the judging criteria, but we would love it if they have.  

Prizes

Three award winners will each receive a certificate and $500 thanks to Australia Post and Infoxchange. We will also be recognising entries a number of ‘highly commended’ entries which will receive a certificate.

Please note that whilst the award winners will be invited to attend the Awards, we will not be paying for accommodation and/or flights to attend.

Judging

Judging of nominees will be made by four representatives of Infoxchange (one representative from the Go Digi team and three external to the Go Digi team).

Award winners will be announced at a National Year of Digital Inclusion event at the Art Gallery of Geelong on the evening of Thursday 1 December from 5:30-7pm.

Key Dates

The competition will open Friday 28 October 2016 and closes 5pm Friday 18 November 2016 (Australian Eastern Daylight Time)
