Day 4: Strawberry Hills Snippet Alas! We’re going to the “Housing Connect Program” roadshow’s cutest suburb! Interestingly, I learned en route Strawberry Hills that it (and Waterloo) are the most densely populated areas in the southern hemisphere with some of the most culturally and linguistically diverse populations. To tell you the truth, I’ve been most looking forward to this session – session 8 of 36, why you may ask? Because of the location’s cute name, of course! It was also the final session of the first of five weeks on the road! It was also exciting coming to this office particularly because on the roadshow so far, we have heard that Strawberry Hills is one of two concept offices with charging ports, free wifi and self-service PC – the other is Coniston which we’ll be visiting later this month! The quote of the day heard was “If you can do HOMES, then you can do anything” tagline – emphasising that learning new devices with the right tools and training shouldn’t be too great a challenge. We love that confidence! The frontline staff at Strawberry Hills were also really lucky to have Sanjay from Google join us for the session; he walked people through a Google Cardboard experience and brought one for people to play with too. As per usual, we loved the #digiconfessions shared in this session – one frontline staff member didn’t realise her Samsung phone was considered “smart.” But the #digiconfession that got the most (horrified) giggles from the other participants revealed she had once spotted a friend’s ex-boyfriend across the road; a bus had briefly blocked view, but when the bus drove off, she took the photo, only to realise that the flash on her camera phone went off. She then had to obviously say her phone was not working properly. #whoops! In case you’re wondering, a Google Cardboard was brought in because Client Service Officers (frontline staff) are invited to participate in a competition at the end of the roadshow. Specifically, the 5 best success stories on How did you break down the digital barrier for your client? will win a prize pack containing a Google ChromeCast and a Google Cardboard in a Google totebag! Not familiar with Google Cardboard, check out this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MQ9yG_QfDA And Google ChromeCast: https://youtu.be/wswc6qe12Yw Lastly, I can share that I sure do have a newfound respect for those who do roadshows galore…
