As part of the second round of Go Digi Seed Funding, Computer Pals for Seniors Northern Beaches ran a great event to wrap up their 2016 but also have fun learning about new technology! This event was held in the Luana Room, Dee Why RSL, Wednesday 7 December 2016 and Judy Elias shares what they did with us.
Well, this turned out to be more like a gala event! We could not be more delighted with the large turnout. We were fully booked with over 100 guests and four wonderful speakers who amazed and astounded us with all that is happening today with the Internet of Things and also what is foreshadowed in the future.
The speakers included Peter Blasina, The Gadget Guy a famed technical guru, Malcolm Raymond a Computer Pals trainer whose area of expertise is IoT, John Frost who specialises in home automation through his business, The Home Automation Co and Charles Migel whose business is Affordable Computers.
To our surprise Santa arrived with five Santa helpers and three sacks of gifts for all our guests. There were four lucky guests who had the winning tickets for the lucky door prizes which were kindly donated by our local Northern Beaches retailers. On display were many information packed giveaway brochures, flyers, t-shirts, USB sticks and also various training manuals relating to computers, devices and apps.
The event concluded with a delicious afternoon tea of jam and cream scones and assorted sandwiches, coffee and tea all catered by Dee Why RSL.
Our thanks to Go Digi with their sponsorship as it provided us with the catalyst to showcase this event to interested seniors in the Northern Beaches. Many of our guests are members from a diverse range of senior clubs on the Northern Beaches which do not provide varied digital information as comprehensively as Computer Pals for Seniors Northern Beaches. The interest shown in this event the Internet of Things by so many seniors only proves the importance which is placed in understanding, keeping updated and being part of any new advancements in technology.
